Before 1947, our oldest complete Hebrew Bible manuscripts dated to the Middle Ages. The scrolls found in caves near Qumran pushed the manuscript evidence back a thousand years, giving us biblical texts copied while the Second Temple still stood.
This article will introduce the discovery, what the scrolls contain, and how remarkably — and where interestingly not — they agree with the medieval Masoretic Text. (Placeholder article — full research to come.)
